When UPN went under, Fox bought up the affiliates and created MyNetworkTV, a nod to its other acquisition, MySpace. The network creative aside, the programming goal was to take popular Spanish language telenovelas and remake them for American audiences. The process led to the creation of over 600 hours of scripted television in under two years.
